CARITAS Buea Succours Floods Victims

The Charity Arm of the Diocese of Buea(CARITAS) has donated some relief materials to victims of the March 18,2023 flash floods that hit the city of Buea in Cameroon’s Southwest Region.

The floods left some two persons dead and over four others injured. The relief materials were handed over to the victims after the Bishop of Buea, the Most Rev Michael Bibi, had earlier visited the victims while officials of CARITAS were instructed to carry out a need assessment for the flood victims.

Following the Prelate’s instructions, officials of CARITAS went to the field to collect data on how to better assist the floods victims.

It was based on the findings on the field that members of CARITAS of the Diocese of Buea handed over relief materials to the floods victims.

The relief materials consisted of bags of rice, cooking oil, tomatoes, soap and toiletries among other basic necessities.

Speaking during the distribution, the Director of CARITAS in the Buea Diocese, Pierre Ernest Tchinda, said the donation was an expression of love and solidarity with the affected people.
