CARITAS of the Diocese of Buea Extends Lifeline to Needy Children: A Gift of Hope and Support

In a heartwarming display of generosity and compassion, CARITAS, the charity arm of the Diocese of Buea, reached out to nearly 2000 orphans and vulnerable children, providing them with essential items to alleviate their hardships. The ceremony, held recently at the CARITAS office in Molyko Buea, was a testament to the power of collective goodwill and the impact of partnerships.

The program officer, Mr. Totsue Elvis, expressed deep gratitude as he unveiled the substantial donation, made possible through the generous sponsorship of German donor Kindermissionswerk. The gifts, which included hygiene kits, food kits, and beddings, are expected to go a long way in addressing the immediate needs of the recipients.

“This donation will significantly alleviate the plights of the needy in our Diocese,” Mr. Elvis emphasized. He went on to elaborate on the comprehensive program that CARITAS has initiated, going beyond material provisions. The program includes income-generating activities, psychosocial support, and assistance with school fees, aiming to create a sustainable and positive impact on the lives of these children.

Representing the Bishop of the Diocese, the Vicar General, Fr. Jude Mbi, blessed the gifts during the ceremony. Addressing the orphans and vulnerable children, he encouraged them to use the gifts for the glory of God. “The church is always with you in prayers,” he assured them, emphasizing the unwavering support of the church in their journey.

Fr. Jude Mbi also took a moment to express gratitude to the German partner, Kindermissionswerk, whose sponsorship made this charitable initiative possible. The collaboration between CARITAS Diocese of Buea and Kindermissionswerk exemplifies the global unity in addressing local needs and bringing positive change to communities.

The impact of this donation extends beyond material assistance; it echoes a message of hope and solidarity to the orphans and vulnerable children in the Diocese of Buea. The Diocese remains committed to supporting its members in times of need. Initiatives like these reflect the values of compassion and communal responsibility that are at the core of CARITAS and the church at large
